- Digging into God’s Word
This week the students will be taking a closer look at the Passion history as presented in the four Gospels. They are outlining the major events during Holy Week from one of the Gospels. After they have completed their outline, we will be comparing the major similarities and differences of the recorded Word in each of the Gospels.
Calendar Events - This week is Spirit Week! Each day the students will have certain events that will score points for each grade. Points will also be awarded for dressing up according to each day’s theme. We will be having the pep rally on Friday at 10:30 to accommodate those 7th & 8th graders going to the snow.

God’s Word Guides Our Lives
This week we are continuing to look at how God’s Word guides the decisions and choices that we make throughout our lives. Using people that God worked through as our guide, we will be focusing on how God would have us use our gifts and abilities.
Calendar Notes - There will be no school next week, Feb. 18th – 22nd. Monday, the 18th is Presidents’ Day and the Northern California/Nevada Teachers’ Conference is the 20th - 22nd.
- Girls’ Basketball will practice on Tuesday this week. We will meet at school at 7:00 am on Friday morning to leave for CLHS.
- Progress Reports will be sent home at the end of this week. Please look over and let me know if you have any questions.
- This Friday I will be traveling to CLHS with the girls’ basketball team and will therefore be out of the classroom.
Classroom Notes- The hymn for the week is 592 st. 1-3. The spelling list is Unit 21.
- Mr. Washburn has returned his call to Christ/St. Peter in Milwaukee. We are very happy to have him stay at Apostles.
- Last night our congregation called Anna Scharrer to be our K1 teacher. A call was also extended to me, to make my position permanent. Please keep us in your prayers as we deliberate where the Lord would have us serve him.
- Last Friday the students voted on their class t-shirt that they won from collecting the most Box Tops. We will be ordering our class t-shirt order by the end of this week.
- Thanks to all the families and students who helped out with Ash Wednesday’s Soup Supper.

- God’s Word Affects Our Decisions
This week we will begin a new Christ Light book titled, “Christian Life Planning.” This book focuses on how God’s Word helps us make some of life’s more difficult decisions. Our lessons this week have the students examine their God given gifts and talents and then look at how our Lord would have us use them.
Calendar Notes - Girls’ A basketball will practice Monday and Wednesday. There is a schedule change for Thursday. We originally were scheduled to play Harker. That will not work because we begin our Hillbrook Tournament on Thursday. Girls play at Hillbrook at 5:50 vs. Hillview on Thursday. Friday, they play at 7:00 vs. Merryhill at Hillbrook and Saturday they play at 11:10 vs. Hillbrook at Hillbrook.
- Grades 6-8 are singing in the 7:00 Ash Wednesday service this week. They will be singing, “Behold the Lamb of God.”
- Feb. 8th marks the 100th day of school.
- There will be no school Feb. 18th – 22nd due to President’s Day and the Northern California/Nevada Teachers’ Conference.

- Next week, Friday, Feb. 15th marks the halfway point of the 3rd Quarter already. Progress reports will be sent home at this time.

- Thanks to all the students who have volunteered to help serve at Lenten soup suppers this week.
