Much To Be Thankful For
I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday. We can truly be grateful for all that God has given us, especially in his ultimate sacrifice, his Son, Jesus. We finished our Christ Light book, “Who Am I?” by looking at how our lives are changed when we keep in mind the great gift of heaven that waits for us.

On Wednesday we will begin our new book, “How Can I Make God Pleasing Decisions?” We will begin by discussing the various shows that we watch on T.V. and in movies and how they relate to our lives as children of God.

Calendar Notes

    God’s Word Makes Us Ready
Pastor Kronebusch began his message yesterday by asking us if we were ready for the business of Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up shortly. More importantly, we can be ready for Christ’s second coming through him and his Word. This week, we will begin looking at how the glorious future of heaven affects our everyday lives, from the good days to the bad days.

    Calendar Notes
  • This Wednesday we will dismiss at noon. There will be no school on Thursday or Friday. Homeroom services will be available on Wednesday until their normal time.
  • Girl’s A basketball practices on Monday and Tuesday of this week. They will practice Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday the following week.
  • Guy’s A basketball practices on Tuesday this week. They will practice on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday of the following week.
  • Friday, Dec. 7th is a Teacher Collaboration Day. We will dismiss at noon. Homeroom will be available.
  • The Christmas Piano Recital is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 7th at 7:00 pm. Come hear the students praise our Lord through their playing.
  • The students will begin learning the Christmas program after the break. The service is scheduled for Saturday, December 15th.

    Classroom Notes
  • Our spelling list for this week is Unit 12. Our hymn for Friday, the 30th is #23 st. 1-4.
  • Next Friday, the 30th, marks the middle of the second quarter. Progress Reports will be handed out at this time.
  • Topics for the Social Studies Fair are due by this Wednesday.
  • Thanks for all the support of the Book Fair! It turned out to be a huge success. Thanks especially for those families who purchased books for the classroom.
  • Thank you very much for meeting with me the past week. I really appreciate getting to talk with you face to face in order to make the most of your child’s learning. If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to let me know.
  • During collaboration last Friday, the faculty was able to go over the Accreditation team’s report. Overall, they were impressed with our school, making special note of a caring environment that our school promotes. Their report identifies areas where we are succeeding our goals and suggestions for school improvement. This team will give their report to the agency and we will find out our Accreditation status come February. We are doing this in order to receive a stamp of approval from an agency that knows education inside and out and to get an outside view of our school and the improvements that can be made.
  • A goal of the 6-8th grades is to better improve writing skills through organization. One part of this will be to have a writing assessment once a month on Collaboration Fridays. The first one was last Friday. The students will write a 3-5 paragraph essay based on a topic. The essays will be assessed and specific writing skills will then be covered and practiced.

God’s blessings on your Thanksgiving. We have much to be grateful for.
    Mr. Fillner
